The licensed physical therapists at the Boston Sports Performance Center specialize in sports injury management, including both conservative care of acute and chronic injuries, as well as post-operative rehabilitation progressions. Our board-certified sports clinical specialists provide comprehensive evaluations that look not only at the area that is causing you pain but other areas of the body that could be contributing to your symptoms.

We offer the latest evidence-based manual techniques, exercises, and modalities and technology that allows us to objectively track and share your progress with you throughout the rehabilitation process.

Meet the Team


Joseph Van Allen
MSPT, SCS, ATC, CSCS

VP, REHABILITATION SERVICES,

Joe Van Allen attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. As an undergraduate at Millikin, he was a three-year letterman of the football team. Van Allen continued his studies and earned a Master of Science in physical therapy from the University of Miami. While earning his graduate degree, he spent two seasons with the Hurricanes Football Team assisting the Athletic Training and Sports Medicine Staff.
In 2001, Van Allen accepted the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer/Director of Rehabilitation of the New England Patriots. There he provided physical therapy and rehabilitation for the organization and worked closely with both the Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning Staffs. During his 18+ years with the Patriots, Van Allen experienced nine Super Bowls and six Super Bowl-winning teams. He was the 2016 recipient of the Tim Davey Assistant Athletic Trainer of the Year and 2017 Ed Block Athletic Training Staff of the Year. Over the years, Van Allen has presented nationally at conferences and symposiums on a variety of topics related to sports medicine, rehabilitation, and performance training in the NFL.

In his role as Director of the Boston Sports Performance Center, Van Allen utilizes his experience and expertise in the fields of sports medicine, rehabilitation, and performance training to apply them to a variety of sports and athletes.

Alicia Harrington
PT, DPT

PHYSICAL THERAPY,
BOSTON SPORTS PERFORMANCE CENTER
Alicia Harrington received a doctorate in physical therapy from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. Since then she has been practicing in outpatient orthopedic clinics with a focus on sports medicine. Both in the clinic and out in the community,  Harrington has led multiple injury prevention screens. She is certified in functional dry needling and other advanced manual therapy techniques.  Harrington is passionate about helping others understand their health and provides the care needed to achieve their health care and lifestyle goals.

Eli Harris
PT, DPT, SCS

PHYSICAL THERAPY,
BOSTON SPORTS PERFORMANCE CENTER
Eli Harris received his Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation science from Northeastern University in Boston. He continued his graduate studies at Northeastern earning a doctorate in physical therapy in 2014. 

After many years of competing in high-level sports, Harris developed a passion and enthusiasm for sports medicine and orthopedics, and an appreciation for the rehabilitation process he has gone through himself as an athlete. 
A native to North Attleboro, Massachusetts, Harris was recruited to play football for Northeastern University. His knowledge and familiarity with high-level athletes eventually landed him an internship with the New England Patriots during the 2014-2015 season, where he was able to contribute on the sidelines during Super Bowl XLIX. After completing his internship, Harris then went on to complete a sports physical therapy residency program through MGH/Northeastern University.

Prior to joining Boston Sports Performance Center's team, Harris was a staff physical therapist at Massachusetts General Hospital Sports Medicine. He is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, and continues to further his knowledge in sports medicine and orthopedics through continuing education courses, attending national conferences and participating in clinical learning opportunities.
